New Family Member: '91 RGV in Lucky Strike Livery

This little gem will soon be sharing garage space with friends. 1991 Suzuki rgv250. Although after posting photos on the RGV Forum there is some doubt about the authenticity of the clothing!

The colour scheme matches the 1994/5 GP colour scheme raced by Swantz and Beattie, which would seem strange to have been used on the road version in 1991?

This near 20yr old is pretty tied girl and probably far worse than these photos make out will eventually be as sweet as the '95. How how could you let a pretty thing like this go unprotected.

Delivery, as usual, from Brisbane will be at least another week.

Fresh off the plane

slides, new Boyer Brandson electronic iggy, new chain and sprockets, new
red Uni filters... The XSpade has been waiting patiently for this day!

Plus some new swingarm bushes for Nat's project SRX... So much to do, so
little time!

I feel the need... The need for SPEED!

Its done... 6 hours in total, but looks even better in the flesh. Final
step was to install the Autocom headset, tested AOK on a run up the old
road. The intercom system worked much better with the speaker placement in
this helmet, I could actually hear the co-pilot complain about corner
speed!

Now... Need to source a plain red helmet for Goose! :)

Almost there

Starting in the middle and working outwards...

Using snipets of 'Post It' notes to help line up the stripes over the curve.

One more night should see it done... I am going crossed eyed trying to line it all up :s

Ride Day

All in all, a good fun day, bloody cold in the morning, but it warmed up quickly as the sun rose. When I booked in the only place left was in the slow group, so I terrorised them for 3 sessions until they moved me up to medium group which was more fun, as a few people my speed to play with. Still plenty of "mobile chicanes" on their superbikes taking it slow around the corners, and then zooming back past me on the main straight, but braking so hard I could sneak around them on the outside of turn 1.

Ran out of fuel in the forth session, pulled in to mix some fresh stuff, only to find the drum I bought with me was contaminated with water, so had to call it a day. I was the only 2 stroke at the track day, let alone a classic bike, so no one with leaded av-gas to scrounge some off. :(
