Found the reason for that...
This bent front axel and broken speedo drive won't help! I found replacements at the wreckers, we had to test 4 front axels before we found a good one, I think they must be made from metal colored cheese. The cracked speedo drive is supposed to be common on this model, and was the real reason it was hard to push, it was binding badly, it must crack from the heat generated when forced to turn with such resistance.
I looked into replacing the fairings, but it wasn't worthwhile, I just sanded out the grazes. I had to do a little plastic welding to reattach the broken corner (top right of pic) and strengthen some cracks. It turns out both side of the bike were badly grazed, but the right side the grazes were just painted straight over as seen below!
Still while all the fairings were off I replaced the axel and handlebar, it looks pretty badass as a naked with those lights. Maybe I should make it a fighter...
